Understanding Bail Bonds
We know this can be confusing. Here’s what you need to know in plain language.
What is a Bail Bond?
A bail bond is a financial guarantee that ensures a defendant will appear in court. Instead of paying the full bail amount, you pay a small percentage (typically 10%) to a bail bondsman who posts the full amount on your behalf.
How Does Bail Work?
When someone is arrested, a judge sets a bail amount based on the charges and flight risk. Bail allows the defendant to be released from jail while awaiting trial. If they appear for all court dates, the bail is returned (minus fees).
What Does It Cost?
In Florida, bail bond companies charge 10% of the total bail amount with a minimum fee of $100. This fee is non-refundable and is the cost of the service. We offer flexible payment plans to help during financial stress.
What Are My Responsibilities?
As the co-signer, you guarantee the defendant will appear at all court dates. If they fail to appear, you may be responsible for the full bail amount. We work with you to ensure compliance and avoid complications.
